Discover the best place to enjoy nature and the first snow fall in December without leaving the city! Les amis de la montagne offers an array activities for you to share with friends, family or your sweetheart, only a few steps away from home! The artificial rink at Beaver Lake is now open!

Lace up your skates, or rent a pair at our equipment rental counter on the ground level of the Beaver Lake Pavilion, and enjoy one of the most beautiful outdoor skating rinks in Montreal! Stop in at the Café des Amis overlooking the lake to warm up with a hot chocolate or a good meal.

Discover Mount Royal’s Winter Birds

Follow an ornithologist from Les amis de la montagne, on December 17 and 18, for our Christmas bird count on Mount Royal. Be one of the thousands of volunteers across the continent to take part in this special North American census. The activity is free of charge but don’t forget to register as space is limited.

Original Gifts to Treat Others or Yourself to

If you are looking for original gifts to give this Christmas, consider offering tickets to a City Lights Snowshoe Excursion on Mount Royal in January and February. With your loved one, with friends or family, enjoy a trek in the crisp winter air and a magical moment in nature while sipping a delicious cup of hot chocolate or mulled wine.

Make headway in your Christmas shopping while visiting Mount Royal! Come to Les Amis’ Nature Boutique at either Smith House or the Mount Royal Chalet and discover our array of toys, special-interest publications or gift items made by local artists and artisans.

A Special New Year’s Snowshoe Trek

On December 30, celebrate New Year’s Eve by toasting the splendours of our city-lit urban winterland. This 90-minute snowshoe excursion is guided by Les amis de la montagne on Mount Royal’s snowy trails, glass of bubblyin the forest included! Book your spot online now.

Plan Your Winter

Take a few minutes to plan the winter months to come with great activities. Registration is open for our youth and adult cross-country ski lessons which start in January. A few spots are left for children, so don’t wait much longer! Designed for children 3 to 8 years of age to discover Mount Royal and develop their interest in nature through different activities, the Club AMIS programme also runs weekly starting January 14. Online registration has started!
