Walk, Snowshoe or Cross-Country Ski

Let it snow! Let it snow! Let it snow! With a little help from Mother Nature, you can enjoy the mountain’s 22 km of cross-country ski trails, 3 km of snowshoe trails as well as a long walk on Omsted Path to appreciate the tranquility of nature or maybe even spot winter birds at the feeders located along the summit loop. Les amis de la montagne offers park visitors a full outdoor equipment rental service.

Lace up Your Skates

Skate to your heart’s content on the refrigerated skating rink next to the Beaver Lake Pavilion. Access is free, and this lovely ice oval lights up with festive colours at night to the delight of fans of this winter sport! Skate rental available for adults and children.

Snow Tubing

Where there’s snow, there’s sliding! Discover the exhilaration of snow tubing down reserved lanes overlooking Beaver Lake. You can also bring your own sled to zip down the free tobogganing lanes during park opening hours.

Family Activities at the Mount Royal Chalet

Hike up to the Chalet to take in the view, have a hot chocolate or learn a little more about Montréal’s history! The free exhibition In the Footsteps of our Discoverers – The Remarkable History of Montréal sheds light on the unique collection of historical paintings in the Mount Royal. Rallies, drawing contests and other activities for the whole family take place from December 22 to January 6.

City Lights Snowshoe Excursions

On Friday and Saturday evenings in January and February, Les amis de la montagne offers guided snowshoe excursions in the forest at nightfall! Discover the mountain’s trails and breathtaking views under the stars, with a stop for hot cocoa along the way.
