The 22nd edition of the Tuques Bleues benefit event welcomed close to 450 snowshoers on a snow-laden Mount Royal on Thursday, February 21. Presented by Manulife for a 10th consecutive year, the event raised nearly $150,000 in support of Les amis de la montagne’s environmental conservation programs on Mount Royal.

Inspired by the 19th-century treks of the Montreal Snowshoe Club, this exceptional outdoor event combined an athletic snowshoe race or walk up Mount Royal, followed by fine food, music and entertainment in the majestic Mount Royal Chalet.

  • 13 teams competing for the Tuques Bleues Trophy
  • Hundreds of walkers
  • 2,5 km of lantern-lit forest trails
  • 13 min 21 s: winning time of the fastest man
  • 16 m 51 s: winning time of the fastest woman
  • Some 70 volunteers
  • 450 revelers gathered at the Chalet  
  • $150,000 for conservation programs on Mount Royal

The Tuques Bleues Celebration was held under the honorary co-chairmanship of Robert Tellier, National Vice President, Group Retirement Services, Brokerage, Manulife, and Michel Leblanc, President and CEO of the Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan Montreal. Medals and the trophy were awarded by the honorary co-chairmanship as follows:

Snowshoe Race Winners – Women
Gold – Dora Hsiao, 16 m. 51 s.
Silver – Sarah Christiani, 17 m. 32 s.
Bronze – Josephine Simard, 18 m. 12 s.

Snowshoe Race Winners – Men
Gold – Vincent Bailly, 13 m 21 s
Silver – Chris Blanchard, 13 m. 24 s.
Bronze – Mike Litowski, 14 m. 07 s.

Over the winters, our honorary presidents have proudly demonstrated their commitment to the Tuques Bleues Celebration and the protection of Mount Royal:

Team Challenge – Tuques Bleues Trophy

Thirteen organizations participated as Team Challenge Partners competing for the Tuques Bleues Trophy: Resolute Forest Products, DNA Capital, CN, TD Friends of the Environment Foundation, Manulife, Presima, Palais des congrès de Montréal, Revision Military, Samcon, Les amis de la montagne, Lolë, Cercle des Jeunes Leaders and Woods. The Presima team won the Tuques Bleues Trophy with the best combined time for their top three racers of 46 min 19 s.
