The Web Copywriter/Translator is responsible for the quality of written material emanating from the organization and ensures that all communications are consistent with Les amis’s branding. Working under the authority of the Director of Communications, the Web Copywriter/Translator drafts, revises and translates copy intended for print or for distribution on digital platforms, while respecting the targeted communication goals. He or she ensures the linguistic quality and consistency of a wide range of messages produced by Les amis de la montagne for the organization's various audiences.

Having extensive experience in writing, translation and revision, the candidate will distinguish him or herself by possessing a collaborative spirit and an intellectual curiosity related to the realization of Les amis de la montagne's mission. He or she will also act as a linguistic advisor within the team and as a resource person for all matters related to the development and application of Les amis de la montagne's official terminology.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Content creation and translation (60%)  
  • Write, update and optimize website content in French and English using SEO best practices
  • Proposes original, catchy and persuasive content to reinforce the brand image and optimize the engagement of Les amis de la montagne's communities, clients and ambassadors, while respecting the established tone and editorial style;
  • Writes, revises and translates external communication (newsletter, fundraising campaigns and donor emails)
  • Contributes to the design, editing and update of the marketing tools intended to the general public (posters, leaflets, brochures, etc.)
  • Translates all content produced by the organization for the public into English. 

Linguistic services (40%)
  • Provides editorial and linguistic support to internal teams (English and French)
  • Reviews and ensures the linguistic quality of all messages to target audiences; 
  • Corrects the proofs of materials to be printed or distributed
  • Recommends orientations, policies, procedures or standards related to the maintenance of the linguistic quality of communications at les Amis

 DESIRED PROFILE 
  • Undergraduate degree in professional writing, translation, journalism or communications, or a relevant discipline; 
  • Five years of experience as a writer/translator or in a similar position;
  • Proficiency in both official languages with a predominance of English - both oral and written;
  • Good knowledge of terminology databases (the large terminology dictionary, linguistic troubleshooting bank, etc.) and reference works;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Docs;
  • Ability to use Web content management software;
  • Knowledge of search engine optimization (SEO) (an asset). 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Planning skills, ability to work under pressure and move multiple projects forward on time;
  • Sense of responsibility, diligence, ability to work independently;
  • Interpersonal skills, clear communication skills, team player and initiative;
  • Intellectual curiosity and demonstrated research skills;
  • Sense of humour (an asset). 

WORK CONDITIONS
  • Full-time contract position (35 hours per week) until September 2022;
