Welcome Centre at Smith House

Headquarters of Les amis since 1999, Smith House is a popular public gathering place in Mount Royal Park. We manage a welcome desk where visitors have access to comprehensive information on what to see and do in the park.

Café des Amis

Our three Café des Amis venues provide park visitors with a place to sit, relax and enjoy good food in a spectacular setting. Located at Smith House, the Leaning House near the lake and Mount Royal Chalet, each offers its own signature snacks and menu choices for families, hikers, skiers, skaters, snowshoers and other park users to enjoy.

Gift Shops

With two locations—Smith House and Mount Royal Chalet—our gift shops provide a warm welcome to a growing clientele seeking original souvenirs, maps, seasonal clothing and toys. Local artists, artisans and small businesses represent more than a third of our suppliers and their unique products are greatly appreciated.

Outdoor Equipment Rentals

Located at the Beaver Lake Pavilion, the equipment rental service operated by Les amis provides skates, cross-country skis, snowshoes, snow tubes and other equipment at hourly rates. In the summer, park visitors can rent rowboats and remote-controlled sailboats for use on Beaver Lake.
